About Jack’s Axe
I make handmade guitars and amps for fun and profit. When first starting out I found it really hard to find accurate information on the web about making handmade guitars and amps. A lot of what I found was just plain wrong or at the best incorrect advice. I started this blog to share what I have learned about creating handcrafted guitars and from making my own amps from scratch. I hope my experience can keep you from making the same mistakes I made.
More About Jack
I run a small town remodeling business (http://jackllfixit.com/) out of the Hockley/Magnolia area. I have worked in the Houston area since 1977. The first job I had was a paint job in Dallas in 1973, which got me out of my Mom’s house! Since then, I have kept a presence in the construction industry.
I ended up in Houston, working on the early development of The Woodlands. When the economy was having trouble in the 80’s I worked industrial jobs, from process mechanic to plant superintendant.
When the economy settled I was drawn back into construction. I worked new construction to commercial jobs. There were a lot of big apartment rehabs going on then, especially in the Westheimer area. Because I had picked up skills in a variety of trades, including carpentry, drywall/paint, and welding, I began doing a lot of warranty work for the larger builders. I would do punch out and warranty for the builders and would also do repairs for various cable companies and other trades.
Since the current economic downturn, I am still doing punch out and warranty for small custom builders and homeowners. I also do work for realtors that are getting their property ready for the resale market. I can do the whole makeready as a turnkey type operation. We get a plan and a key, and we handle the rest. I also can operate to your instructions only on the particular service you need.
I also handle any carpentry issues, from decks to doors, crownmolding, windows, fencing (wood or metal). Unique patio designs can be realized. I always respect your time and your budget and leave your job site clean .
